Mist Flight

You might be forgiven for sensing a theme … mist, fog (Dunedin harbour yesterday)

Adding to the theme – a delicious dose of winter chills – a new LP from Dunedin Sound band, The Chills. It arrived yesterday (I was actually expecting a cd, so the album was a nice surprise). We listened to it last night; taking in the winter feel of the music and the words. The Chills. Somehow it seems an appropriate name for a Dunedin band.

In order to listen to Scatterbrain (although it does also have a code in order to download it) we needed to heave Robert’s old stereo – the Murphy Hi Fidelity – down into our small flat from upstairs. And while I was at it, I grabbed one of my favourite LP’s. A Joni Mitchell of course.

Was actually surprised how much the cover of Joni Mitchell’s Miles of Aisles LP blends in with the decor. Seriously considering getting a cushion made from it.

The flight I was to go on today to go to Wellington was cancelled because of fog. In fact all flights were cancelled because the fog refused to lift all day.

This unexpected event provided a space in time I didn’t plan for. What better way to use that time than to sit back and listen to Miles of Aisles?

When listening to Joni singing the song Blue, my ears pricked up at the end lines.

Blue here is a shell for you
Inside you’ll hear a sigh
A foggy lullaby
There is your song from me

Perfect.
