Visiting Monarch

morning collect

Tiger-print stained glass
this paper weight hang glider
clear against pottery blue
sky, hooked on green,
supping scarlet without a word
its wings speaking
with praying hands
of how fine the reach
between heaven and earth
and how we cannot hope
to contain this life,
our own heart, our own planet
its voice,
its repeating grief.
